Nature's Colours: Womanmade and birdmade

Don't think I've shown you my lovely blotchy black piece that was first bundled with vegetation and came out rather pale. But marinating it with rusty bits created black and grey. I just love it. It goes so beautifully with this little chap who I'm sure wasn't marinated but he clung to the wall outside my back door and watched us one day.

  1. What a cutie pie!! Do you know what type of bird it is? I think that whatever you eco-dyed must have had a lot of tannin in it. I've heard that tannin, mixed with rust = blacks/greys. I'm going to do more rusting of fabric and throw in some used tea bags because I have no idea what other plant material will work. I do love the piece and am curious if you're going to combine the bird with the cloth to make a piece. No not the real bird, just the image of one. The colour scheme is very appealing to me right now.

  2. what a sweet little bird, very alert to us viewers. and i love your blotchy black piece, don't you just love happy accidents. cheers, kaite

  3. lovely bird penny, And it will be interesting to see what you do with that eco cloth. very nice.

  4. Very interesting fabric that blends perfectly with the wee bird. I agree with Anne Marie - it would be lovely to be able to combine the bird image and the fabric somehow.
