Slowly Stitching

Slowly stitching in my island of calm

Weeping for injustices around the world

Praying that solutions will be found

Hoping that governments will prove themselves worthy

It is surely a time when drastic systemic change is needed

It is a time to invest in change

It is a time to invest in people

And talking of change

Our garden Robin decided to place her nest atop our garden hose

and we are very grateful to her for that

because they usually nest high above in spruce trees

but this year for a change we can get to watch her.

Eggs of new beginnings

Eggs full of potential for the future

It is hard not to have a heavy heart but

 Perhaps she placed her eggs in sight to remind me

it is possible to make a brighter world

and we are living through the time of change.

I hope you find some jewels in your day

Whisperings

I filled the background with crosses

Why

I do not know

It felt right

Perhaps it was that magnificent Snow Moon

on a cloudless night that led me to thoughts of stars.

Perhaps it was the piece itself

talking to me of generations whose voices have travelled through the ages

to tell us they too were here.

Of course, as usual, before trusting my thoughts

I did try out other background stitches.

It seems I often do that before settling!

Love the ruching too

Will have to explore that more often.

So

Whispering Cairn is finished

It's story complete

I am sad

but happy to have it close for a while.

Today I love how the sun is really shining

on that snow covered rock.

Looks like a Polar Bear wandering through the stream beyond!

March came in quite gently with a layer of snow

but today the skies are clear

I suppose that means it will go out like a lion

Hmmm.

Hope not because

this week we will run out of wood!

Criss Cross Crumbs

I have been taking crumbs from the cutting room floor

and assembling them into wee collages

just so that they are available to play with

whenever a threaded needle 

might want to play.

very much the same as Daily Scratchings

but different!

Just as an aside

Some of you might recall "Rusty Gate"

It has been accepted into

SAQA's My Corner of the World show

that will tour Canada for the next couple of years

opening on May 21st in Stratford, Ontario.

It will be a show worth seeing

full of work by lots of great Canadian textile artists.
