A New Year's Wish for You

My favourite New Year wish for you
first posted on January 1, 2014.

May your day be filled with blessings
Like the sun that lights the sky,
And may you always have the courage
To spread your wings and fly!

May your past be a pleasant memory,
Your future filled with delight and mystery,
Your now a glorious moment,
That fills your life with deep contentment.

May your troubles be less
And your blessings be more
And nothing but happiness
Come through your door.

May the nourishment of the earth be yours
May the clarity of light be yours
May the fluency of the ocean be yours
May the protection of the ancestors be yours.

Blessings on you and yours this new year.

A Wintry End of the Year

It has snowed

and snowed

and snowed.

And now it is the last day of 2013
It has been a good year.

Sunrise on January First

Break of dawn on a brand new year
and to my surprise I'm still blogging!
I started with trepidation
but have found a warm and welcoming community on-line.
Thank you for dropping by for a visit.
I enjoy your company.
Many of you have become dear friends.

Joy and blessings on you and yours for this brand new year.

As I'm stitching into the new year
I'm looking back at row upon row of Rusty Gate stitching.
Neat  lines of straight stitch
obviously freshly mown grass behind the gate!

And then the more organic flowing stitches on Celtic Crow
which reflect thoughts of an ancient cave wall.

Now there is chaotic stitching going on!
Do you see I left the fly stitching in and
being surrounded they look like they belong!
But it's allowed to be chaotic because
I'm thinking of dappled sunlight
in the woods around me......not that they are dusty rose at all at all!

Being a piece about the sun
it seems appropriate that there would be
little goddesses of the dawn with arms open wide
dotted about the piece.

Wonder what this new year will bring.

Hey Ho

No need to dream of a white Christmas here
It's still snowing.

Peace and Goodwill to you all

Strangely Grateful

The thing is, my oven gave up the ghost as I cooked dinner last night.
Couldn't help but be thankful it wasn't Christmas Eve when the house will be full of hungry lads and lassies!
So on this Thanksgiving Day I am thankful for handy hubby who threw our dinner on the BBQ,
apple crisp and all!
I am especially thankful for my three boys
and for Donna who loves one of them!
And of course grateful for the rusty pups who rule our lives.

'Thank you' to you all for visiting here.
Thanks to those of you who share your thoughts on blogs, I so enjoy visiting with you.
I have to apologize for not being very responsive lately....
I've been so busy
and the day after tomorrow I'm off to Ontario.
Will post when I can but probably won't be back in full swing until November.
Gee whizz that's a long time!
I will miss your company.
Happy Thanksgiving

Cool Blues Outside and Warm Christmas Gifts to Play with Inside

Contrails always have me wondering
about the lives in that plane
and the adventures they are embarking upon.
I know where I'm going....

back inside to admire this lovely stack of cottons from Donna and Mark.

A Blessing for the New Year

May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine upon your window pane.
May the Rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near to you.
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
(Ancient Scottish blessing)

And so another Christmas Passes By

A green Christmas for the first time in years;
but the snow came eventually and left us without electricity for another whole day.
Brett came home!
We were kept busy with parties and games, walks and cozy time in front of the fire.
Mark stayed in Toronto with Donna and her family but we had lovely talks over the phone lines.

Today I am alone,
Brett and his father left for the airport before dawn on treacherous roads with high winds.
All went well, Brett is now in the air heading back to Toronto.
It's quiet in the house.
The wind is howling as the snowstorm continues.
Grateful for special time spent with family.
Happy to have a warm glowing fire keeping me company as I stitch for the first time in days,
waiting for my husband to get back home this afternoon.
