A Whole Lotta Rocks and a Grateful Heart

Two days at a house on a beach
soaking up the sounds and rhythm of the waves

Walking barefoot in sand and water

 Marvelling at Mother Nature's artwork

Finding lines of stitch and....

....weathered holes

Marvelling at grey on grey textures

Discovering two rocks so different from the rest

Wondering why barnacles have started to grow on seaweed

Imagining the waves on stormy nights
carving their images on smooth rocks and ....

....pounding down to create seams and crevices

Thank you to Diane and Harold who gifted me this time
and
thank you to the golden who sat by my side and wanted so much to be petted.

Thank you to so many of you who loved the Rusty Pups
You raised us up with your beautiful words of sympathy.
And thank you Miranda for your beautiful rusty gifts
I will indeed wear them and think of my pups.

My First Beach Walk This Year

You never know what's going to catch your eye.
Every time it's different.

This walk it was gatherings of pebbles

or perhaps pebbles and footprints

But mostly just pebbles.

A family of five
Handy Hubby with the strip
Moi, I would be the pink one
and then my three boys
from smallest to oldest!

Have a nice day.

Beach Walking

We always walk towards the water

With dunes at our back

Tennis balls are thrown
and frisbies fly through the air

Some of us cool off in damp sand

Sometimes the frisby settles after creating a perfect spiral

We sip tea on the terrace of a local restaurant
as the Rusty Pups watch from behind wall

There's not much seaweed on this particular beach

We followed a logging truck on the road home.

Walking the Shore

We walked rocky Hampton Beach
Actually more like a balancing act than a walk
working our way over all those pebbles!

looking out to sea calms the senses

Soft breezes and salt air
renew every fibre of our beings.

The Beach

Breathe

Dance with swirling mists

Run
The tides here are so big
all this sand will be covered at high tide

Family to some
pack to others

Some things make the beach their home

But we have to go now

Daybreak on the Basin

Walking along the Basin as the sun comes up

Way down there on the horizon
the suns rays hit rooftops in Digby

Birds were very active this morning
Small groups of geese flew overhead
and ducks paddled the waters
reacquainting themselves with their surroundings

One RP chased a deer across the marshlands
and got a big finger wagging when she returned.
A murder of crows cawed a noisy hullabaloo
but I couldn't see why....no eagle in sight.

We Met a Beautiful Cat and Walked a Mighty Beach

Are we sitting comfortably?
Then we'll begin

We walked this mighty beach

Here the lowlands behind the beach
are protected

by a mighty wall of stones

Some stones escape
and help form
beautiful gatherings of people shapes
down on the water-line

South Shore Views

Reflections on a quiet sea

Looking over the salt marsh

Life cycle

And looking closer at the salt marsh
new life
in young black ducks
with their mother quacking instructions

The power of three

Things That Gather in my Studio

I love my studio
and within that studio I keep things that inspire me
woody gifts from the sea
in little piles on windowsills

sticking out of bowls alongside feathers

or standing tall in flowerpots

Some show evidence of high density critter living
or road maps well travelled

Funny how they avoided the rusty bit too.
