Threaded Dimples

Able to stitch on the weekend,
I returned to my starry piece
for the finishing touches.
A third and final backing has been added
and I'm quilting the layers together.
Love those undulations.

Some stitches will be more raggedy...
less like a quilting stitch.

Even back in the beginning of my stitching life...
I couldn't resist filling in every speck of space with stitch.

It's the texture.
Those little dimples sinking into cloth.

Stars Need Vacations Too

When a heart-filled star needs a vacation
he heads for the seashore
and....
tiptoes through the surf,
while
wriggling his toes in the sand.

A tiny star in training.

I'm going through quite a starry phase am I not!

Winter's Star

A star who lives in the frozen north
requires thick wintery snowpants
and a warm and fuzzy jacket.

If he didn't wear bright red earmuffs,
the tips of his ears might turn to frozen blue.

Despite all the layers required to keep him warm
he still wears his heart on the outside.

Heartfull Stars

Some stars live within hearts.
Their windmill shape allows them to twirl around and around
when a heart needs uplifting.

Smaller stars live among the woven
points of bigger stars.

All these stars have been gathering on this cloth started in March.

Starstruck

This star was to be a star of simple means.

But he insisted that I weave him a coat of many colours.
And it seems he has a star-struck hanger on!

He wears one red shoe and one of purple.

Perhaps he is a star with ears or even horns.

Stars can be Warriors too

A warrior star...
or at least one that lives in the vicinity of Mars.
This particular warrior star has an affinity for the water below
as he floats just above it.

He is fiery to the core.

But there are chinks in his armour...
or I could not bring myself to cover this rusty spot.

Needle weaving forms an effective protection for stars of the warrior genre.

Indigo Star

A star manages to fit itself anywhere it can.
Even along the frayed break of a Boro repair.
His indigo heart is perhaps a sign that he has a soul
or the reflection of the skies around him.
He is not quite an adult star yet
and is is trying to say he's a one of a kind
with an unwoven point...
and some stitches across gaps in his development.
He fancies himself as a blue, blue star
and so is trying to spread indigo into his points.
Being so young, he doesn't realize there
are bound to be more like him somewhere in the universe.

Homework

My sampler of techniques Jude is sharing with those of us taking her Boro class.
Darning, reusing and recycling
is surprisingly freeing.
