Connections Fibre Artists - Greenbelt Show

 

“Greenbelt” showcases original artwork by the Connections Fibre Artists and is a rare opportunity to see their artwork in Toronto.  The exhibition is inspired by Ontario’s Greenbelt, now celebrating 20 years, and features a wide variety of fibre art including wet felting, stitching, quilting, collage and mixed media.

Each artist brings a unique perspective to the exhibition, reflecting the diversity and beauty of the landscapes, waterways, and communities that make up Ontario’s Greenbelt. These works invite viewers to consider our relationship to this vital resource and the importance of safeguarding the Greenbelt for future generations.

Connections Fibre Artists (CFA) is a nationally recognized group of accomplished Canadian fibre artists, established in 1999. Members include published authors, artists who have exhibited both nationally and internationally, workshop facilitators, major award winners, and pioneers in the fibre art field. The Greenbelt exhibition will feature works by twenty-two of the group’s twenty-five members.

I am so sad I can’t be there

But am thrilled to be part of this show.

 I have been a member of Connections since their beginnings and am sad that I now live too far away to be with them physically.

But I will be there in spirit!

So why the title Wednesdays

Since 2008 Diane and I have been meeting....yes

on Wednesdays!

Everyone knows we are unavailable

on Wednesdays!

 Both of us find our inspiration in nature

and are always happy to explore our environment

for local materials and inspiration.

One corner of the show is dedicated to a few

of our explorations

We even found space for a few of the stone pathways to hang

though

Handy Hubby and I both forgot to take the actual stones

that we usually displayed with them.

Getting old!

Hanging a show always does me in

but after four hours of work

it is worth it

textiles always make a place warm and inviting

especially in a cold Canadian winter!

and used their choice as inspiration

in the Wellington County Museum collection.

I chose this dress

I thought it might have been dyed with black walnut or Alder

perhaps both

I imagined the woman who wore this

might love the woods

as I do.

Connections Fibre Artists Shows

The Grange Gallery in Mississauga

Opening today at 4 p.m.

My "Life Rings" piece is there.

Another Connections show 'Celebrate The Seven" 

is on at the Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre

until November 30th.

Quite frankly I don't know what pieces of mine are there

since both my pieces were sold to lovely women

at the last venue.

And of course more locally the Artist's Way Cooperative
has a show "Breaking Patterns" opening
 at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia in Yarmouth
on Friday November 7th at 6 p.m.

Busy times!
Now I am gearing up for a new body of work.

A New Show By The Connections Fibre Artists Group

A show to be seen for those of you in Ontario

It is bound to be great

Full of inspiration

The opening reception is April 4

from 7-9 p.m.

at the Wellington Country Museum and Archives

Connections is a group I have been a member of for many years now.

A group of fellow artists that I am very fond of.

Our goal is to promote fibre arts

and thus hold shows regularly.

Should be a great show.
