A Landscape of Mudflats

"The real voyage of discovery consists
not of seeking new landscapes,
but in having new eyes".

Marcel Proust

Words of wisdom I try to remember
when exploring the world around me...

even the ugly low tide mudflats.
Perhaps if I look with new eyes
I might see some beauty in them.

  1. This is a good post. I look at your pictures and see ONLY beauty. I will look with new eyes at places where I live that I have thought were not pretty. I'll show you Monday.

  3. It can be quite an effort to develop the "seeing eye" in this sense, but it's worth it on those occasions we manage it, isn't it!

  4. I certainly see beauty in them. Your post has inspired me to look for beauty in my city where I don't usually see it.

    1. I've been there too...living in cities that never inspired me. Funny, now that I'm living far away from those places, I see more beauty in them as an infrequent visitor.

  6. Knowing you through your words and art - I'm sure you'll find the beauty in the mudflats (or anywhere else your eyes turn).

  7. Hi, Penny. Lovely pictures. Sometimes I feel like my eyes are refreshed from visiting blogs and seeing other worlds. Really liked your car doodle in the previous post. It's interesting that you thought of applying it to the bark idea. So many possibilities!
