A Gathering of Moths

Forgetting to turn off the outside light when you go to bed
means waking up to a wall covered in moths

This one obviously thinks himself a stealth bomber
blending into cedar

Finding comfort snuggled up against the back door.

Trying to look like an armoured bug I believe.

This one was tiny
perhaps 1/2" between wing tips

Glamorous beauty wearing fur

Like autumnal crunchy leaf

Washed in Tide

Just gorgeous maarkings.

  1. Each and every one so beautiful. I love the colors in the first one. Kind of like some sunsets....if you painted a canvas in those colors others would say it is not lifelike, but there you see it in the evening sky. Who would think a pink and green moth?

    1. I know! Who would have thought pink and green. I wonder if he spends a lot of time among the flowers.

  3. It really is amazing how pretty they are when you get such a close look at them. We have to keep our lights near the house turned off. Do you have Stink Bugs there? They were out east and have moved west into Indiana last year. They are a pain and find their way into the house through any cranny they can find. They do look pretty cool but still a critter I wish would stay outside.

    1. Oh my goodness, Carol...I've just been researching the stink bug. Sounds like a real problem. Not here yet but apparently we are expecting them to come.

  4. These are amazing. We used to have Luna Moths decorating the front of our house when we lived deep in the woods. I know that butterflies usually get the attention but moths are also wonderful

  7. Beautiful moths, such a wonderful collection and so many inspirations there. You might forget to turn off the light more often.
