She Loved the Woods
finished and nearly ready to mail to Ontario
for a Connections Fibre Artists show
Re:Fashion
Each one of us chose one of the fashion items
in the Wellington County Museum collection.
I chose this dress
I thought it might have been dyed with black walnut or Alder
perhaps both
I imagined the woman who wore this
might love the woods
as I do.
Connections Fibre Artists
is a group brimming with talent.
Do go and be inspired!
Great interpretation Penny, and I have to say I love that dress! Can't imagine squeezing my rather rotund body into it, but a gal can dream.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! And a wonderful response to the gown. What an intriguing starting point for an exhibition..
ReplyDeleteFantastic work, and interpretation of the dress. Yes, I can see a 'Gibson Girl' out walking in the woods, gathering wildflowers. Please tell us more about your piece. What is the ground fabric. I'm sure you dyed it, but what with? Did you also dye your embroidery threads? As always, I love your work. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAnother superb and inspiring piece, what a pity that I can not visit the exhibition. I wish we had an equivalent of Connections Fibre Artist in Europe.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful piece Penny and I love that outfit! xx
ReplyDeleteOh my Penny, what a gorgeous piece you are working on and I adore it's title. You are such an inspiration to me. I so wish I was a lot closer to come see the exhibition. Southern California is my home. You live with so much beauty surrounding you.
