We visited the Beaver Dam

A few days ago the ice was breaking up around the abandoned Beaver Dam.

Today the water is free of ice
I wonder if beavers ever return to places they have abandoned?

The Rusty Pups found it a useful bridge to clamber their way back to me.
It is still cold up here in the North so the ice might be back.

I wondered if I should have put puppies on top of
Beaver Moon Dreaming...

....or perhaps some paw prints!

  1. I think you probably see Rusty Pups and paw prints every time you look at it, even if you didn't stitch them in!

  2. WOW - what an awesome set of photos, Penny. LOVE your new work in progress. We are having the ice disappearing like magic now too... Dale and I walked the northern trails today above our home and there is no snow left - one small patch of ice and the hills are draining runoff into creeks that are very high. Rain tonight!

  3. I do like your piece Penny. That ice is amazing. xx

  4. Your stitching is beautiful and your photos look like wonderful fun.
We don't have ice or beavers here.
I did see a seal playing in the waves the other day.
    Thanks for sharing your world.

  5. Quite cold here this morning too. For most of the winter the river in front of our building has been open. There's quite a heavy current there so it has to be below freezing for a number of days before it will freeze over. I think it's interesting to ponder what made that 'hole' in the ice in the first picture - looks like something was trying to escape from beneath! Stay well - stay safe.
