Living in a Country of Lakes

Wherever I have lived in Canada
there have been lakes
reflecting bold and beautiful skies

Tannin colours the waters here in Nova Scotia
drifts of pine needles line up along waters edge
and huge rocks sunbathe in family groupings.

Islands crammed with trees inhabit lakes

and leaves sink beneath the waters looking like copper pennies in a city fountain.

Living Among Trees

I am comfortable in the woods.

where sometimes the sun breaks through
and lights up autumn foliage....

where Rusty Pups lead me down meandering trails...

where mosses try to climb tree trunks...

where some trees stand ankle deep in fallen needles....

and climb upwards...

and upwards to reach the sky....

where fallen and decomposing bits and pieces....

provide fodder for future stitches.

A Slither of a Moon

Sunrise from the front porch.

The sun was coming up...

...beneath a slither of a moon.

Scratched Travels

Busy week.

Soo cold and windy outside so we lit our first fire of the season.
Then I snuggled in front of the fire and played with crochet.

On Wednesday a group of friends came and spent the day discharging.

On Halloween, Handy Hubby had to get a tow out of soggy ground!
And the Rusty pups turned six.
Then I drove up the province through wind and rain and past many a tamarack tree
for a SAQA weekend.

Seventeen of us spent the weekend learning more about each other
and looking backwards at what brought us to where we are
and where we plan to take our work and friendship in the future.

Sibling Oaks

We have two young oak trees
that have been catching the afternoon sun lately.

Quite different in colour.
....There is nothing like a tree....

Cotton Candy Morning

Cotton candy clouds light as feathers
hover over the basin
as the sun thinks of rising.

A meandering stream has worn its way
through the low-tide mud.
It is the kind of mud that sucks your wellies off!

Scratched Scrolls

Scratched scrolls are piling up

Yards and yards of daily stitchings are accumulating.

This week included a visit to the dentist!

Row upon row of running stitch have been growing in the background.

Rows of daily scratchings mark the passage of time.
Do I carry on next year?
Do I change things up?
I will have to decide before the Holiday season.
