Scratching With a Sense of Fun

Some weeks I wonder if there will be anything to scratch.
Then at The Artist Way meeting we talked
about a sense of fun....

....and I thought of squiggly shapes....

....and then I thought of Paul Klee.
A fun week.

Scratching an Uninspired Week

A difficult week

A great big blob of a week!
but now it is Monday again.
Let's start afresh!

Steven Ashley's Day of Memory

I carry you with me in my heart
Wherever I go, you go
always
I carry you deep where memories lie
Memories rich in Love
Memories full of tears and laughter.

You have a beautiful little niece now, Steven.
They called her Ashley after you
Boy, would you adore her!

The Garden is Outdoing Itself this Year

Mother nature is making up for a winter
we all thought would never end.

An abundance of perfumed blooms

in every corner

of the garden

fills the senses with joy.

Mornings in July

Streamers of fog move up and down the dike

Our little fox friend waits at a safe distance as usual.

One morning a field became striped....

....and the next day it had turned to dots in the mist.

We spied a couple of crows scavenging
on the edge between dike and water.

A Hodgepodge of a Week

Feels messy and
strange colourwise now that I have photographed it!

Summer has arrived
and though the sun shines every day....

....our early morning walks
involve walking through cool sweeps of fog.

Beyond the cool air of fog banks
are strings of texture.

The ecru stitches on the left are created with the Oriental Stitch
and the ones on the right are the Vandyke Stitch
Just in case you are interested!

One day a whole bunch of us got together in Chester
to talk about our work....
....always so inspiring.
Let's hope I make less of a hodgepodge with next week's
scratchings!

A Red, Red Morning

A red, red sun rose in the East

I couldn't really capture it.
The straight, rigid column of the reflection surprised me.

Resting at low tide.
We have a lot of seafarers in these parts....

....and feathered water lovers too.

Scratching Into a New Month

July being the seventh month
means time for a new scroll.
That happens every three months.

All that came to mind was Monday, Monday.
Tuesday, Tuesday was a trip up the valley
and back down again.

If it's the first of July it must be Canada Day.
Thursday the RP's had to visit their vet, Jodi.
Both got jabs....

....but RP Kayla also had a blood test
and all is well....
She's a happy puppy once again.

Diane dropped by
I gave her back her lovely basket of wool
but kept back a strip of blue ribbon

Blues and greens
yummy combinations.

In The Woodpile

Another shape created by Nature
that might inspire a stitching.
Eaten away

Being colonized

And even by my own embroidery threads
They get everywhere!
These must be remnants of a day of bundling
by the stream.

And right next to that log
one that reminded me
that I must get back to my couching
spiralling
round and around.
