Think this is my favourite so far.
Don't have a name for it yet.
From the First to this one
the stitching has become even denser.
As I stitched I was thinking of the holes
in dead standing trees
put there by the shy
Pileated Woodpeckers
and others.
All on a cotton cloth
left in our tannin rich stream for a few days.
Obviously wrapped around a bit of rust too.
Love those stains
travelling from top to bottom.
All quite accidental
Love not having control
Love surprises.
Right now stream is completely dried up
If it weren't
I would be out there sinking more bundles.
The pale colours that result are just what I need
for this series of stitchings.
Love it again. You must have an enormous quantity of brown thread in your thread stash.
ReplyDeleteI love all of your work -- but these woodland gaffiti's are my very most favorite. Even as it seems random, it all goes together. Much like Mother Nature's work.

ReplyDeleteI love the way those coppery stains run into the heart of the stitching.

Absolutely love your work and was wondering you'd like to do a 6 question email interview to participate in my Clever Embroidery Series at my blog. http://goodearthquilting.blogspot.ca/2015/08/clever-embroidery-1-series-wendy-welch.html
ReplyDeleteZowie! That is a LOT of stitching. How big are they, Penny! I am not sure you have said??
ReplyDeleteEverytime I look in at this piece, I see an angel...sometimes it seems like an angel exuberantly playing a banjo. Anyway i love it.
ReplyDeleteloving these!
ReplyDeleteThis is something that cries out to be touched. Seeing it in a picture just isn't the same as being able to run it through your fingers and feeling the texture.
