Blue on Blue Scratchings

Heartache on heartache!
Well
Not a fan of blue
Bad memories of navy blue school uniforms I think
Every now and then I think that's ridiculous
and try again
Couldn't even do a whole row of the navy blue thread
All in all an uninteresting week

apart from happenings related to geese.
In the studio I'm working on a goosey piece
One day Handy Hubby returned from the golf course bearing two goose feathers
He never knows what I'm stitching on!
Then one morning I opened one of many little boxes
to find a long forgotten goose broach sitting there!

  1. I have often wondered why we like certain things, dislike others and REALLY dislike yet another. For me I REALLY dislike yellow, and dislike primary green. I was wondering the other day how I can dislike green so much when I absolutely LOVE the green in nature all around me.

I really like blue..and I wore uniforms too. Funny.

    1. Strange isn't it! Just like me loving the sea and the sky....but working with blue....no thanks!

  2. O, I forgot to tell you how much I like your geese piece. Isn't amazing that we find just the perfect long forgotten component just when we need it.

I have wanted to tell you for a long time that your stitches have shown me the beauty of impromptu stitching. I love your style.

  4. Penny I love your goose piece...and those beautiful feathers (what a thoughtful husband).

I'm liking the blue. Yellow is a colour I have always had trouble with, but lately finding that I quite like it now.

    1. That's good to know, Jacky. Perhaps one day blue will be something I find easier to work with.

  6. I bet you don't feel close to blue because you are such a warm person. Maybe you fear that the blueness will destroy some of your inner fire.

Psychologically, I think that it is very healthy that you are putting yourself in control of that feeling by stitching the colour into your journal.

It is poetic that you recognize the feelings.

  7. I used to be a HUGE fan of blue but those days are far behind me. I do however love the aqua blue shades - especially paired with rust or taupe - yum!!

    1. In those olden days the powers that be didn't seem to want to encourage individuality and so uniforms came into being!

  9. I'm in love with your 'scratchings' pieces...there's just something about them. On another note, I'm also working on a Canada Goose project! (a quilt)

  11. Goosey serendipity for you, Penny. (I am not a blue fan either, and almost phobic over light blue - no idea why...) -sus

    1. Strange isn't it. We all seem to have strong likes and dislikes over colours.
