The weeks might be going by faster
but they sure are taking up more fabric mileage!
The clouds rolled in on Monday
We were lucky to be on the edge of Sandy
luckily relatives in New Jersey are fine
without power, but fine
On Halloween the Rusty Pups turned five
five pumpkins and five bones
On Thursday Diane and I made marks in sketchbooks
For Friday I was thinking that Sandy's dense clouds nearly touched the treetops
Over the weekend I needed some colour
Solid clouds still overhead
When will the sun come back?
I said my weeks were using up much more fabric
The scratched scroll from July until now is much larger
than the first half of the year
and
I still have two months to go.
And it's November fifth
a day never forgotten by us Brits!
Remember, remember
The fifth of November,
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!
Guy Fawkes and his companions
Did the scheme contrive,
To blow the King and Parliament
All up Alive.
Threescore barrels, laid below,
To prove old England's overthrow.
But by God's providence, him they catch,
With a dark lantern, lighting a match!
Beautiful work as usual.
ReplyDeleteHi Roberta....thanks very much....glad you enjoy the stitching.
DeleteHas there been more going on, or have you simply found that you can stitch more in the week than you at first thought?
ReplyDeleteI'm no longer satisfied with just one line of stitch and devote more and more time during the day to it!
DeleteAll your traveling about has certainly added some lovely, long panels to your collection. Hope the sun comes out today to warm you and let lots of light in.
ReplyDeleteOh, gee whizz...I miss the sun!
DeleteI love the clouds that rolled in on Monday.
ReplyDeleteDid you have bonfires to celebrate the fith of november?
Yes, those clouds are my favourite too. No, no bonfire! No guy to burn on top of it either!
Deletejust loosening your tension....besides, sandy could never have been depicted as a small circle.
ReplyDeleteAnd also loving the process so much I'm now prepared to put more and more time into it.
DeleteHappy Guy Fawkes, Penny. Did you make a guy? Did you have A bonfire?
ReplyDeleteYou know what? Your scratchings have the possibility of becoming a modern day Bayeux Tapestry! Amazing!!!
Gosh, haven't made a guy for years! Perhaps I'll stitch one this week. That reminds me, I have a lovely book on the Bayeux tapestry. Think I'll go and pull it off the shelf now.
DeleteI like the idea of your banner being a contemporary tapestry. Let's hope it leads to no huge political event!!
ReplyDeleteHey I could be stitching about your elections down there!
