Some leaves burst forth in the company of white blossom
Some reach skyward on long shafts of wood
Some appear long after the catkins have bloomed
Some gently unfurl on the tips of branches
A few unwrap themselves from around tiny exotic blooms
Some look like mighty claws as if they've fought for their very existence
My goodness it was cold today
oh my, penny! what strange - and beautiful - plants and flowers!
ReplyDeleteNot too strange up here, quite common really!
DeleteGreat Pics!
ReplyDeleteI love watching the garden sprout. Our winter was so mild that the weeds never really died and are waiting for me to compost them!! I need to clear a path for the flowers, but our 80 degree March weather changed to cold wind.
And it's really cold here at the moment.
DeleteI especially love the 'claws' picture, may I ask what plant that is and what it will become when it opens up? Its quite fabulous.
ReplyDeletePenny...I really don't know. I was wondering if they were beech leaves but I don't really know.
DeleteCold and rainy here today, too. Love the bursting blooms you've shown. Happy May Day!
ReplyDeleteWhen's that warmness coming?!
DeleteThose claws are particularly striking, aren't they!
ReplyDeleteThey make an interesting visual don't they to those of us who notice those things!
DeleteI love that you have marked the season in this way...all so strange & individual in the way they are emerging. Cold here, too, but brilliant sunlight today. I shall look for unfurling!
ReplyDeleteWe were covered in a layer of frost this morning...Let's hope all that unfurling isn't interupted.
DeleteBeautiful :) Yesterday 80 degrees...today 62!
