Scratched Memory

Another scratched week
when one thing led to another

For Monday stitching the North Mountain seemed like the right thing to do
and
adding that thin string of morning fog
That made me think
of sun rays working their way through those early morning low clouds

Then the plumber's scrim I used for Tuesday's fog
made me think
of needle weaving.
A paintbrush for Thursday
because I'm taking a course on acrylic painting.

Then three days of easy stitches 'cos we have visitors
Not much time to stitch
Not much time to think!

But still time to wonder what to do with some
beautiful random dyed cheesecloth.

Brand New and Really Old Linear things

A brand new piece of equipment appeared in the quarry
Not a speck of rust
yet

This on the other hand is a very old
very rusty
decommissioned railway bridge.

Anyone for climbing up there and
getting those rusty XX's
onto fabric?

Back down closer to the ground
there is design potential
 amidst all those
textures
shapes
lines
and
repetitions

Ah,but there is rusting potential
 in those bolts

But not as impressive as this rusty beauty!

For the Birds

The Rusty Pups didn't even notice the heron
Can you see him?

Now you see him.
Funny thing is we watched him fly across the basin
and disappear amongst the trees around my house.
Perhaps he has worked out
that when the RP's are over here on the dyke
it's safe to go fishing back at my pond!

A seagull pretending to be a post
alongside a pair of posts that never made it into Posts Rule!

more geese are landing on my goosey piece.

Sun Arise She Come Every Mornin'

And what a morning walk it was
Gratitude filled my heart with every step
Across the mouth of the Allains River lies Fort Anne
where the Scots landed in 1629
and subsequently fought over by the Brits and French for years.
Should do a more detailed blog about it one day.

Across the Annapolis Basin
Granville Ferry lies beneath a thin strip of morning fog.

Further down the basin is our neighbour's red barn
and beautiful whispy clouds

Just beyond the barn I spied my neighbours out in their kayak
I know you can't see the tiny slither that is them way beyond Mr. Heron
but they are there enjoying this glorious sunrise too

The water was a mirror
And now I'm turning around back to the car
as the early sun is
'Bringin' back the warmth to the ground'
(As soon as the pups and I arrived for our walk
that Rolf Harris song of my childhood!)

Blue on Blue Scratchings

Heartache on heartache!
Well
Not a fan of blue
Bad memories of navy blue school uniforms I think
Every now and then I think that's ridiculous
and try again
Couldn't even do a whole row of the navy blue thread
All in all an uninteresting week

apart from happenings related to geese.
In the studio I'm working on a goosey piece
One day Handy Hubby returned from the golf course bearing two goose feathers
He never knows what I'm stitching on!
Then one morning I opened one of many little boxes
to find a long forgotten goose broach sitting there!

Posts Rule!

Rusty sentries
Would love to wrap some cloth around these!

Family of five

Sometimes we force trees into post work

Some posts like to paddle at high tide

Others line up and stand tall
ready to hold back the ocean

Some old posts just loaf around the basin floor

Worn out!

Snuggling in pairs

Some folk like sitting atop posts

and some folk just pretend to be posts

Ha
That was fun!

Walking the Mountain

We followed deer prints up the mountain
in the early morning light

Four legged RP's always beat me to the top
Sometimes they run back
and nuzzle my hand
in an attempt to hurry me along

On the way up we pass a huge pile of tree trunks
which the RP's find very interesting
I think a porcupine takes refuge in that pile
Let's hope it keeps a low profile as we pass by

Then I spied a full moon rising in amongst all that bark
