For a few weeks now I've been
stitching and stitching and stitching
Covering cloth with row upon row of machine made stitch
Meeting a deadline
in a weak attempt to reproduce part of
a JEH MacDonald painting.
I hope I don't have to do something like this again!
Not my cup of tea.
Holy Cow...tell us, show us more!
ReplyDeleteOh, Carol, I didn't take any more photos and it's now in the mail!
DeleteWow! It may not be your cup of tea but it looks wonderful! Although I love your scratchings best of all :)
ReplyDeleteWhy, Thank you Angela! Perhaps the scratchings are more meaningful than reproduction of a painting.
DeleteIt's certainly intriguing, and doesn't look "weak" to me, although I agree that attempting to reproduce painting with machine stitches is probably making life difficult for yourself!
ReplyDeleteVery difficult! Some people like that kind of challenge...not me.
DeleteIt is quite the challenge but you have achieved a beauty of a piece ! Best of them so far !
ReplyDeleteHi, Sharon...are you getting to see them all as they come in? Lucky thing.
DeleteCup of tea or not - it looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteHey, think I'll go and put the kettle on!
Deletethe machine is still just a tool, and you use it as wonderfully as any hand needle
ReplyDeleteHi, Arlee...thanks...are you using the machine much nowadays?
Deleteback to combining, thanks for asking--the 2 *can* marry beautifully :)
DeleteThe Tangled Garden?
ReplyDeleteGlorious colours, Penny! I think JEH would be flattered. Is this another of the huge group efforts like the one I saw at Greenwood Quiltery in Guelph ON last year? Great!
ReplyDeletewell we do what we do.
ReplyDeletecrikey, that's a whole lotta stitching...looks good, Penny, and still has your *signature* all over it.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful work! I've only just discovered your blog and your work just astounds me. I love the stitching which is your background photo. I look forward to following your blog.
