Scritch Scratch

I'm a scratching Olympian
Well at least a marathoner

Remember chasing the raccoon up the tree?

On Thursday some of us gathered at Betsy's cottage
and watched four loons gliding around the lake

On Friday Diane and I made the biggest bundles you have ever seen
and even managed to stuff two of them in the dye pot
as we dyed the Olympics got under way.

Our bundles must have been about 36" long

On Sunday I planned to harvest the garlic
but it rained all day.
It's been so dry we really need this rain.

Have a nice week

  1. What wonders! I absolutely love the way you captured the raccoon. Aren't those bundles going to be fun to open when its time?

    1. Unbundling them will be way easier than trying to bundle them up! I discovered today it's very tough to do without a second pair of hands.

  2. must be the seasons for big bundles
i'm carrying one around California, giving it as long as possible before unwrapping - but in time, i hope, for it to dry before i board the plane home. i'll need it to stitch on during that l o n g flight!

    1. We found that we really needed two pairs of hands to get the bundling done.

  5. great stitching. Throughout the week I now find myself thinking "what would Penny stitch about THIS?" CBS Sunday morning news had a tape of Loons. It made me think of you...my husband said "What's a Loon" Then I wondered if the "Loony" is somehow related to Loons. Funny how your mind works. (Love that raccoon too.)

    1. Hey Carol
Ha! You should be thinking of how you would stitch little things in your day...or perhaps how to bead them!
The call of the loon is so soulful and full of sadness I think. The Canadian Loonie is indeed related to loons... there is a loon on it.

    1. It's true, working out how to simplify and stitch small things(and sometimes big things)to record the day has taken over my life!

  7. I love the little Olympic rings - perfect way to note the games (and will serve as a good way to date this particular area of scritching). Also like the stitched bundle/dye pot - looking forward to seeing what comes out of the 'real' thing.
