Forgetting to turn off the outside light when you go to bed
means waking up to a wall covered in moths
This one obviously thinks himself a stealth bomber
blending into cedar
Finding comfort snuggled up against the back door.
Trying to look like an armoured bug I believe.
This one was tiny
perhaps 1/2" between wing tips
Glamorous beauty wearing fur
Like autumnal crunchy leaf
Washed in Tide
Just gorgeous maarkings.
Each and every one so beautiful. I love the colors in the first one. Kind of like some sunsets....if you painted a canvas in those colors others would say it is not lifelike, but there you see it in the evening sky. Who would think a pink and green moth?
ReplyDeleteDeb
I know! Who would have thought pink and green. I wonder if he spends a lot of time among the flowers.
DeleteThey are such beautiful creatures aren't they....and I'm sure you can find some stitching patterns in there somewhere!
ReplyDeleteOh for sure! And perhaps I could rust some cotton to match.
DeleteIt really is amazing how pretty they are when you get such a close look at them. We have to keep our lights near the house turned off. Do you have Stink Bugs there? They were out east and have moved west into Indiana last year. They are a pain and find their way into the house through any cranny they can find. They do look pretty cool but still a critter I wish would stay outside.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Carol...I've just been researching the stink bug. Sounds like a real problem. Not here yet but apparently we are expecting them to come.
DeleteSo beautiful
ReplyDeleteAren't they just.
DeleteThese are amazing. We used to have Luna Moths decorating the front of our house when we lived deep in the woods. I know that butterflies usually get the attention but moths are also wonderful
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, and the Luna moth is the most beautiful of all.
DeleteSuch variety! Your stitches in the last post are marvelous. Best, sus
ReplyDeleteThanks Sus.
DeleteThey're all gorgeous, such wonderful, dramatic markings!
ReplyDeleteYes, dramatic is the word....and great ideas could flow from their markings.
Deletethey look like cloth!
ReplyDeleteClothed in cloth with furry legs!
DeleteBeautiful moths, such a wonderful collection and so many inspirations there. You might forget to turn off the light more often.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful!! I think I'd be leaving the light on every night if that was what I would see in the morning!
ReplyDeleteWow Penny, you found some true beauties there !!!
ReplyDelete(I like the golden with the little fur coat best)
yes. i also saw cloth. i, too, have all kinds of critters at my front door and under the eaves in the morning...all attracted by the light.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kaite...forget to turn off the light more often if these beauties are your reward!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, Penny. Seems you are harboring "moth haven" 'round your place.
oh so beautiful, thank you for noticing.
