Our Snowy Retreat in Nova Scotia

Thank you Val and Janet and Margi and Judy
for a wonderful wintery retreat.
You travelled so far.
You arrived as a snowstorm blew in.

We stitched and filled our journals...
We shared our creative journeys since our last retreat..

We tried new things....

We shared favourite books.
We talked of inspiration, processes and goals.
We sipped wine.
We discussed art and artists and the world around us.
We laughed and we cried.
Outside it snowed.

Of course the rusty pups had their noses and tails in everything.

So many thanks to my Richard who dug us out
and worked in the background on chores that freed us to play.

Sadly it is over
"Oh, well"
but my cup runneth over.

  3. Hi Penny,
I'm Karen, in Jude's class with you. I was in Nova Scotia about 3 years ago at a quilter's retreat at Pictou Lodge. I took Janet Bolton's class, and met Margi there. I met Valerie too, and bought one of her African embroideries. So we almost know each other!

  5. What an entirely lovely way to *recharge*! And to think that winter carried on around you while all of you, good comrades, made the most of every moment...nothing better.

Thank you and Richard so very much for the wonderful hospitality in your beautiful country home. I shall always remember it as one of the most nurturing times of my life.

  7. Ha! AM you were right! I'm the blond curly mop looking the wrong way!

Yes we certainly tried to fill every second and were reluctant to go to sleep at the end of each day.

karen you must have been in Nova Scotia just after I moved here... lucky you to take a class with Janet Bolton. See you at Jude's.

    Me too Judy.

  8. What better way to spend a few snowy, wintry days! Looks like you all warmed up the atmosphere just fine and soaked up a lot of inspiration from each other.
