Red Things

Red is not a colour I use a lot.  However, I am enjoying stitching up all the reds in my mother's 50's and 60's stash using her favourite way of working...English paper piecing.

Also from my mother a single foundation pieced long cabin block.

One of my treasures is this lovely mola gift from a generous student.

And I love my red African cows purchased from my friend Val at African Threads

  2. You´ll enjoy them even more in the darker days to come - neutrals fan as I am, I wouldn´t mind having a log cabin quilt in those colours around...

  3. I was going to say that it's not the usual colour palette that I've seen here. Red can be so cheerful, it must be nice working on the hexagons. I love the African cows.

  4. Mmmmmmm, mmmmmmm!!!! Red is one of my favourite colours.......and english paper piecing is positively addicting...I once saw a photo of an absolutely magnificient quilt. Hexies in true and strong reds, with just a touch of accent colour sprinkled about. It was huge, done in rows not flowers and looked absolutely magnificent hanging on a stone wall. Drool!

The mola and the cows are both wonderful. I covet them both....LOL!

  7. One thing about red - it grabs attention and you certainly got mine! I love those cows, too - and how you're connecting with, and adding your touch to your mother's stash.

  9. Wondering if there is a natural dye material that gives red.
