Windswept Rainbows

We walked beneath a rainbow

the RP's disturbed a heron
who found flying a problem because of the mighty winds

Looks like the pot of gold is out there on Goat Island

Then a second rainbow tried to form right ahead of us

I thought an eagle had come to greet us on this dramatic morning
because eagles tend to do that for me

but it turned out to be a hawk

Brrr....that was a cold and windy and rainy walk.
Think I'll go home and stitch!

Simple Pleasure

Happiness is walking through a stand of maple trees in October.

Living in a Bigger World

Every morning they lead the way
and I follow behind.
This morning we flushed out a marsh hawk
and of course a pheasant or two.

I am pretty sure that those little black dots on the basin

are "my" black ducks

and the twelve babies they had on my pond.

Scratched Among the Leaves

Exploring pebbles

The Pileated Woodpecker visited
as I worked in the studio

Then we drove up the valley to the eye doctor
And on Thursday I spent the day with the Loose Threads group.

On Friday I thought of things in the negative
and for Saturday and Sunday
my thoughts were on how some days wrap themselves around each other.

It's been a leafy week.
Perhaps because it is Thanksgiving up here in Canada.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Holding on and Hanging out

I've missed the geese on my morning walks.
Now I know where they are.

Down the other end of the basin in Diane's garden
hanging out with a pheasant!

Meanwhile the marshland around the dikes
is turning into gorgeous warm autumnal colours.
Funny that we are given this visual feast of warmth
before the white coolness (freezingness!) of winter takes over.

The studio needs a clean-up

But not too much...

It's good to keep....

things in sight...

to remind me of where I have come from....

and perhaps where the next stitching should go.

Pink is the Colour of the Morning Sun

The moon was still high in the sky
as the sun appeared behind me

Small whisps of cloud clung to the marshland across the basin

And morning dew clung to fragile spiders webs

As usual I stopped to admire my favourite rusty post

Back in the studio I doodled another piece of bark.
A bit of a mess
but
there are some shapes in there worth exploring.

A Mushroomy Time of Year

They are popping up everywhere.
Some made up with row upon row of chain stitches

Others neatly arranged in lines of stem stitch

Some are enormous
...at least eight inches high
on long legs

Some are bright with crusty bits

and others are tiny legged bobbles

Never seen this black 'thing' before
Pretty ugly I think

And then I smiled at my beautiful Rudbeckia
Obviously embarrassed at finding
herself in the presence of mushrooms and fungi!
