I have always been drawn to
the ancient symbol of the cross
Only once have I used the cross in a piece of work
and that was at a devastating time in my life.
Laid on it's side....love
I just went criss cross crazy
Wondering when
I might use the cruciform again
perhaps simply as a design form
Because it is very pleasing just as a simple shape
with no symbolism applied to it.
Fingers crossed that Winter is on it's way out!
What fun you've had with crosses. Its fun to take a shape like that and see what can be done.

Yes, and because it is so simple it can be straight and crisp and formal or floaty and free...
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for you!
ReplyDeleteGreat variety of stitching on all your crosses.
ReplyDeleteI have been drawn to the 'Red Cross" symbol for some time. At the recent Australasian Quilt convention there were some amazing 12" x 12" quilts displayed with the theme Lest we Forget. There were some crosses on these quilts, which I took to be inspired by the 'Red Cross' symbol.
ReplyDeletesymbol or just a mark...
