A Week of Stretched and Cutup Scratchings

Perhaps this year is going to turn into more of a sampler
than images of daily happenings.

Three strips of discharged cotton
extended with stitch.

The RP's and I were blown along the dyke
by vicious winds.

If it's Wednesday it must be play-day.

This winter is turning into an ice event.
Normally by now we would have mountains of snow in the garden
for RP's to play queen of the castle.
Not this year
instead they have an ice rink to slip and slide on.

I'm thinking my weekend textures are brilliant!
...Certainly my favourite.

Stitched a grid on two strips of fabric
then cut the strips into umpteen squares.
This has potential me thinks.

Play Day on the Annapolis Basin

Diane and I have a play day once a week

This week we dyed

We experimented on blanket pieces

Dipping into different strengths

and concoctions

Creating stripes

and blotches

I dipped some old linens.

It was so cold outside everything froze
and dripped icicles.
We will let them dry for days and days
and perhaps dip them again.
Just going with the flow.

Winterized Woodland

The rising sun starts hitting the North Mountain slopes
before the guardians edging my garden.

Can't even tell there's a mountain there
because of the thick grey clouds
blanketing our world in winter.

Into the woods we went

It looks like a porcupine has moved in.
Though those tracks seem strange even for a porcupine.

Let a Rusty Pup out the back door
and this is the first thing they do each and every time.

Scratching Daily

A week of scratching in snow and rain.

Snow upon ice upon snow upon ice.
I'm seeing red dots....
....it's dangerous walking nowadays.
Plant your feet firmly on the ground.

Diane came by....
....we played with glue guns.

A mishmash of textures
filled the rest of the week.

Birds of Winter

He plonked himself on the bird table
and stayed for a while...
...Hope he got his fill.

The cardinals have chosen this feeder as their favourite this winter.

The male still prefers having his feet on solid ground

Perhaps she is dropping sunflower seeds for him

Meanwhile on the basin there are hundreds of water birds.

Scratching 2015

And so another year starts

Flowers for a fresh start

Happy Birthday Donna!

It snowed
then it rained
then it snowed
Ice beneath snow is not easy to cope with

It snows and snows and snows
while the wind blows and blows and blows

Spent the day at Diane's playing with soy wax
but also watching hundreds of water birds
feeding on the basin
as
the eagles soared high, high above.

Staying indoors out of the cold
weaving up some threads

Threading some beginnings.
