The soft greys of naked trees
and fiery colours of dying leaves
the blue greens of conifers
surround us these days.
Down in the marshes
bull rushes fill damp corners.
On the dike
rusty leaves of ferns are underfoot
eaten leaves
dance in warm breezes.
greying wildflowers
show off the deep burgundy rose leaves.
The golden rod fades.
Everything preparing for what comes next.
Autumn does produce some glorious colours!
ReplyDeleteThose colours have to be bold enough to last me through a white, white winter!
DeleteAhhhhh, these fiery autumn colours are so beautiful Penny ! Thanks !
ReplyDeleteHave a good (scratchings) week ;-)
My favourite colour and weather season.
DeleteI can't get enough of autumn colors this year, so amazing. I like the rusting, too... better get stacking wood, though, got over a cord to go! Thanks for the color.
ReplyDeleteStacking those logs is back breaking work isn't it!
DeleteYour colors are much more vibrant than ours. So gorgeous. I think perhaps because your warm season is shorter, they are more passionate about living :)
ReplyDeleteAnd they make up for a long, white winter!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours! I love fall, but it makes me sad because I know that the horrible white stuff is not long behind. Don't want to even think about it!
