At the end of March I will start a separate scroll for the next three months.
They will be separate but will either button or Velcro together when necessary.
Life will be easier looking back through several smaller scrolls than one looooooong one!
The grass was revealed
and low and behold the geese arrived back
from their winter vacation
on Mark's Birthday
This week we sprayed marks onto blue fabric
The snow came back with a vengeance!
We're wallowing in it
Decided to put some blue back on my discharged fabric.
On Friday our Steve and Andi came round
and so, four place settings.
We have the greatest neighbours
On Saturday monochrome was the word
For Sunday I used two of the button loops from my wedding dress
and then went loopy!
These scrolls are going to be so long! You must have stitched metres and metres of them!
ReplyDeleteYup!
DeleteLovely idea and lovely work ... a daily diary in fabric and stitches.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to unroll and read years down the line !
Let's hope! I also write notes on the wrong side to help.
DeleteI used parts of my wedding dress in a piece of art recently too.
ReplyDeletehappy Spring, dear Penny.
xx
When I first started using my wedding dress I shocked a few people! And Happy Spring to you to Judy up there on your lovely island.
DeleteI love all of these scratchings - but am especially drawn to the bridal gown loops and the blue black stitching.
ReplyDeleteSome days are more interesting than others!
DeleteLove the idea of buttoning the year together! And the 4 place settings are just the best!
ReplyDeleteLike the way you think, Nancy!
DeleteLove the RP's peeking out above the snow!
ReplyDeleteOne of these days I'll work out an easy way to show them rolling on their backs in the snow!
Deletemy imagination went off when you mentioned buttons...stones used like toggles with loops like your wedding dress...sticks/driftwood 'woven' in... separating zippers for a modern use.
ReplyDeletesomehow velcro just doesn't seem right for this work...
Wow, Vicky, you've got me thinking now! Especially with driftwood 'woven' in. Thanks for that. Okay no Velcro!
DeleteOkay, no velcro! How about corks from your husbands wine making? They can be carved, even the rubbery ones. I am not good at carving, but I have managed to 'sculpt' a couple without removing any fingers. Magnets? Use them on the 'back' piece and have them adhere to something rusty on the 'front' piece?
DeleteMaybe I should stop thinking...this work could weight tons before long...
what fun! why am i so afraid to snip at my wedding dress? it's in a box in the tiptop of the closet we never use, and my daughter will never wear it nor any woman my son married, so why am i reluctant to take the scissors to it?
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I did was to dip it in tea! Now adding little bits and pieces of it to my work adds so much more meaning....Better than being in the box it lived in for years (just like yours).
DeleteWhat a wonderful way to store memories but please, not Velcro.
