Speckled Suet Lovers

Crowds of starlings
Huddle in the crab apple tree

Awaiting their turn at the suet ball.

They fluff up their feathers in the cold

and patiently wait.
Trouble is the hawks also wait higher in the spruce trees.

  1. We always have starlings here. But in the spring after their nests hatch they are a huge nuisance at the feeders. But like I tell my husband, all the birds are welcome.

  2. They do look rather as though they are feeling the cold, there...
