The Rusty Pups didn't even notice the heron
Can you see him?
Now you see him.
Funny thing is we watched him fly across the basin
and disappear amongst the trees around my house.
Perhaps he has worked out
that when the RP's are over here on the dyke
it's safe to go fishing back at my pond!
A seagull pretending to be a post
alongside a pair of posts that never made it into Posts Rule!
more geese are landing on my goosey piece.
Isn't it funny that the Blue sat there with the RP in such close proximity. I always marvel at critters that stop dead in their tracks thinking you won't see them, when looking for them is part of the purpose.
ReplyDeleteThat was one self confident bird!
ReplyDeleteWe have cheeky wild turkeys in this area -- they will stand right there when I'm out walking - less than 2 feet away almost daring me to approach any closer and telling me loudly what they think about my being there to begin with.
ReplyDeleteWould they attack? I 'm thinking they must be about the size of a Canada goose. I daren 't go near them especially when the have young.
DeleteDaring bird... maybe counting on the pups enthusiasm for the walk!
ReplyDeleteOr he knows the pups already had their morning excitement flushing out a pheasant.
DeleteI think the Rusty Pups had other sounds and smells on their minds!
ReplyDeleteYou got it! There are pheasants hiding along the path...easy prey.
Deletelovenyour geese!
ReplyDeleteJust a few lines and we know they are geese.
ReplyDeleteI think herons must be pretty adept at hiding in plain sight. There is one that sometimes comes to the river here and it's hard to pick him (her?) out because they stay so still.
