Criss Cross Scratchings

I have always been drawn to
the ancient symbol of the cross

Only once have I used the cross in a piece of work
and that was at a devastating time in my life.

Laid on it's side....love

I just went criss cross crazy

Wondering when

I might use the cruciform again
perhaps simply as a design form

Because it is very pleasing just as a simple shape
with no symbolism applied to it.
Fingers crossed that Winter is on it's way out!

  1. What fun you've had with crosses. Its fun to take a shape like that and see what can be done.

  4. Yes, and because it is so simple it can be straight and crisp and formal or floaty and free...

  7. I have been drawn to the 'Red Cross" symbol for some time. At the recent Australasian Quilt convention there were some amazing 12" x 12" quilts displayed with the theme Lest we Forget. There were some crosses on these quilts, which I took to be inspired by the 'Red Cross' symbol.
